Started in Austin, Texas, Schlotzsky’s is a 40-year-old foodservice concept specializing in sandwiches and other deli items. Over the years, the brand had become less relatable and relevant, so Schlotzsky’s tasked SRG to help it reconnect with their target and carve out an ownable space in the crowded fast-casual landscape. Going back to the brand’s roots, our team was inspired by the eclectic Austin scene of unique food, style, and culture. One of my designs, shown below, was selected for implementation in 2015. My solution was to reimagine the Schlotzsky’s identity to capture the unique sense of creativity and energy inherent in Austin and the brand’s DNA.
BRAND CHARACTER BOARD
Lance Reed (CD), Amy Shenton (Designer), and I teamed up with Jeremy Kay (Director of Brand Environments) to translate the new brand visual language into an immersive experience where the food, people, and environment come together in a dynamic “Austin Eatery” space.
